Disaster Response Exercise & Exchange (DREE) Bangladesh Volunteer Support Meeting.
On 7th October 2019, the CDP team met with the Commanding Officer of Disaster Management at the Arm Forces Division (AFD) Prime Minister’s Office, Bangladesh. CDP has been nominated 15 participants, including 10 volunteers for this intensive Disaster Response Exercise and Exchange (DREE).
The Disaster Response Exercise and Exchange (DREE) is an earthquake disaster related exercise, which is conducted in Bangladesh since 2010. Initially US Army Pacific (USARPAC) in coordination with Armed Forces Division (AFD) organized the exercise. Later, the exercise is conducted under the auspices of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief (MoDMR), AFD and USARPAC. Over the last nine years, DREE has become a brand in Bangladesh. This year the exercise is conducted with the participants from all related ministries, divisions and organizations with the title,” DREE BANGLADESH 2019”. Participants from different friendly countries will also participate in the exercise.
DREE is the largest earthquake disaster related exercise in the Asia Pacific region. The exercise will be conducted from 27 October to 31 October 2019 simultaneously in Dhaka and Rangpur. It will comprise Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE), Table Top Exercise (TTX) and Field Training Exercise (FTX). The focus of the exercise will be sharing good practices on earthquake disaster management of different friendly countries, National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) at strategic/operational level and Disaster Incident Management Team (DIMT) at City Corporation level. DREE BANGLADESH 2019 is expected to contribute effectively to the overall effort in the field of Disaster Management.
High-level participants form 34+ counters including the entire chief of diplomatic mission in Bangladesh including H.E. Honorable Prime Minister of the county will be joining in this exercise.
