Research Team Coordinator
Dr. Rengina Rahman has 15 years of working experience as a hydrogeologist and
groundwater modeller in areas of environmental, public water supply, and mining industries. She is a registered professional engineer in Ontario, Canada. She received her B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. Dr. Rahman received her Ph.D. in Earth Sciences and M.A.Sc . in Civil Engineering, both from the University of Waterloo. She worked as a volunteer for Water without Borders where she researched grant applications. Currently, she is working as an advisor for Community Development for Peace Foundation in Bangladesh. In 2018, she started a project that aims to promote higher education of underprivileged, high school, Bengali girls. She is involved in the funding and decision-making for this project and has provided valuable feedback for the charity.

Dr. Rashida was born and grew up in Myanmar. She is a Physical Therapist with extensive clinical experiences. After a couple of committed practicingyears in Myanmar, she pursued her higher education abroad and she completed her PhD in Medical Education in 2018 from Mahidol University, Thailand. During her PhD journey, she developed scholarly profile, extended the international professional networks by presenting her works at International conferences across Asia, including Taiwan and Hong Kong, and awarded the First Place for the abstract competition at the World Confederation of Physical Therapy conference. As an outcome of her Ph.D. thesis, she developed the set of curriculums to improve the Clinical Decision-Making Skills of the Physical Therapists and that was the first-ever evidence-based Physical Therapy educational material in Myanmar. Once she defended her PhD, she completed her one-year Post-Doc (2018-19) at the Mahidol Oxford, Research Unit (MORU) which is one of the International Tropical Medicine research units of the University of Oxford. Working as a young searcher, Dr. Rashida and her research team have attracted a grant from the Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics (FIND) for ‘The Antibiotics Microbial Resistance Diagnostics Use Accelerator’ Project, which is the multicenter clinical trial across six different countries. Dr. Rashida is now working for Myanmar Oxford Clinical Research Unit (MOCRU), Yangon, Myanmar as a Social Scientist (leading the Social Science studies which are embedded in the clinical trials), and a Research Consultant. Apart from her medical education and social science interests, she is passionate about working on Gender, Development and religious studies for contemporary issues.

MahparaAlam has been working as development practitioner for about seven years in different development organizations and led successful projects in the area of gender, social protection, education and economic development. Besides, she has strong research background in the area of gender studies. Having completed her masters in Development Studies from University of Dhaka, she chose her area of interest in Gender Studies and attended numerous certified online courses from Harvard, Stanford and John Hopkins University on International Women Health, Confronting GVB through health care, Child protection, Women in Informal Labor Economy amongst many. Her research works on gender sensitive issues have been published in different NGO and INGO journals and newspapers. She has worked with CARE Bangladesh, The Asia Foundation, International Rescue Committee, DAN Church International, UNHCR, UNICEF and many other Government agencies. Presently, she is working in BRAC Emergency Education Program for the Rohingya Community in Cox’s Bazar as a Sector Specialist. She believes her acquired education and professional experience would provide her with adequate skills to be a part of the Gender Studies research team.

Zarin Tasnim is a resident of Dhaka City, Bangladesh. Though her family origin is in Barguna she grew up in Dhaka. She completed her secondary and higher secondary certification from Dhaka. She is a fresh graduate who completed her graduation from BRAC University (BSS in Economics) and post-graduation from East West University (MSS in Economics). In her graduation days, she was involved with different club activities. She was in charge of the event management and financial issues of the clubs that she was associated with. She also worked as a research assistant in the project “International IQAC” under UGC, BRAC University. Right now, she is working as a part-time translator in ARK Foundation.
She is a slightly introvert but a humble person who tries to help other people and always tries to provide her utmost effort in her work. She likes to travel, read books and teach students. Her future plan is to involve herself in research work, social activities as well. She also has a plan to take higher degrees in related fields which are Economics and Social sciences. Though she does not have relevant experience for the research team she will be assigned to, but she can provide sufficient time for her research purpose and come helpful whenever any translation work, if needed.
Aishwarya Narasimhadevara is involved in youth advocacy related projects and interested in the importance of education in the field of International Development. She is an individual wishing to make a difference in a society like others. She has been involved with various non-government organizations working in the field of education, the environment, and culture. She has a Master’s in International Development from the University of Kent-Brussels School of International Studies in Brussels, Belgium. Travelling is a passion of hers and she enjoys seeing new places. She also enjoys learning, taking photos, and practicing karate.

Ishrat is such a gallant girl who has broken the stereotypes and taboos attached with the word “woman” by fighting for their rights and encouraging other women to do their bit. A girl with super managerial powers, activist and human rights defender, a clinical psychologist by profession, a Rover Scout by passion and travel enthusiast, belongs to the land of mountains called Skardu GB.
She had started her social work since 2010, as she has been part of many organizations, as a Clinician, volunteer (JZT), ambassador (US State Department), organizer (PUAN), coordinator (IHRO), Vice president (UMT Scots Club), and director (YFP), currently, she is working as a researcher. She also has become a voice for many underprivileged women and communities by striving hard for their rights, further, she is interested in conducting researches on Gender studies. She has been passionately participating in career counseling, rehabilitation programs, and community a service, program, also documented issues and struggles under her Instagram blog. Currently, she is researching Psychosocial issues of female sex workers in Pakistan. She speaks against inequality, also focuses on Diversity, building interfaith harmony, and inclusion by bridging the gap between different communities. She has been actively participating in both national and international events, participated in many leadership programs, and completed 128 hours in community service during a one-year scholarship in the USA, she also won a Best Leadership Quality Award by US State Dept. and became the Global Ambassador in Puerto Rico after the Hurricane. Currently, she is busy in COVID-19 Relief Mission, by distributing rations with her team.

Khalilullah Muhammad Bayezid is currently teaching Anthropology at the Asian University of Bangladesh (AUB) and co-founder of anthrobd.com. He has held research and field positions in different national and international organizations in Bangladesh; such as Save the Children, Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA), Ain-O-Shalish Kendra (ASK), and Bangladesh Youth Leadership Centre (BYLC).
He worked with the Bangladesh Youth Leadership Center (BYLC), Access Alumni Society of Bangladesh (AASB), and South Asian Youth Society (SAYS), in their community service activities. Besides, his volunteering contribution to Activist Anthropologist and Anthro-Solidarity, social activist groups, allows him to connect the practicalities of the subject with classroom theories. Mr. Bayezid has also been a Fellow of ACCESS program in the session of 2004-2006 under the U.S. Department of State, USA. He earned his BSS and MSS degrees in Anthropology from Jahangirnagar University. Currently, he is pursuing an M.Phil. Degree from the same institution. He is also a member of the Itihash Academy, Bangladesh and Anthropology Alumni Association of Jahangirnagar University (AAAJU).

Saima Sultana Jaba was born and raised in a rural area of Bangladesh. She Completed her undergraduate degree from Asian University for Women (AUW) with a major in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (PPE) and minor in Development Studies. Also, she completed my undergraduate senior year from Kent State University in the U.S.A. and received four awards for her active involvement in various volunteering works. Right now, she is pursuing my Masters in Education from the BRAC Institute of Educational Development (BIED), BRAC University in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Along with that, she is working as a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Assistant with the United Nations World Food Program (UNWFP) in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. Previously, she worked as a Research Associate on Child Protection for the BRAC Humanitarian Crisis Management Program (HCMP) in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. Moreover, she worked as a Research Collaborator for Otto-von-Guericke University in Germany and this research was conducted on the localizing humanitarian action in the context of the Rohingya Emergency Response in Cox’s Bazar. Because of her deep interest in research work, she kept continued to work on the research field and worked as an Enumerator for the stress management program at Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA). She worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant (RA) and wrote four articles related to urban poverty and social politics which have been published at URB.im. While working as a Fellow at Teach for Bangladesh (TFB), she addressed educational inequity in Bangladesh and contributed to implementing this program at the grass-roots level for 26 months where she initiated two community awareness projects about nutrition, health and emergency response that reached hundreds of young people in vulnerable communities. In the future, she wants to be a development practitioner in Bangladesh.

Jayma is a postgraduate student studying Population, Reproductive Health, and Gender Development at East-West University. She is also currently working as a Research Assistant under the Center for Research and Training of East-West University. The research is about the exceeding incidences of suicides in the Jhinaidah district of Bangladesh. She has a long two and a half years of experience as a teaching assistant both in her undergraduate and graduate level. Outside the academic sphere, she has worked as a business analyst in a multinational corporation right after her graduation. She has an enthusiasm for extra-curricular activities, thereby attended a lot of seminars based on social awareness and social crises such as awareness on cervical cancer, sexual harassment and gender rights, Terrorism, Feminism, and social abuse, and many others. She has volunteered at international conferences like “Conference on Knowledge Transfer” (2017) and “International Conference on Envisioning Our Common Goal” (2016).This year, on the 29th of February 2020, she has presented her research paper on the “Association between Mental Health and Academic Performances of Undergraduate Students of East-West University” in the “1st Multidisciplinary International Conference on the Social and Life Sciences”. Besides, the applicant has immense endeavor working for child psychology and female rights preservation. Her future perspective is to work for human welfare and through that, to contribute towards the society of Bangladesh.

Mohsina Aktar is a junior environmental researcher. She is one of the fellows of the Women Deliver Young Leaders Program, USA. Earlier, she has taken part in the countrywide competition of environment conservation in 2008 and was awarded by Rural Services Foundation (RSF).
Following that inspiration, she has completed her graduation and master’s degree in Environmental Science from Khulna University. She is self-motivated to work for the environment as well as women empowerment. Mohsina has a publication in an international peer-reviewed journal. She has attended more than ten national and international seminars, workshops and conferences at home and abroad. In 2018, she has been awarded as an Ambassador of the London based nonprofit organization One Young World in their annual summit.
Currently, Mohsina is working as a Program Officer in Community Development for Peace (CDP). Sustainable food production and consumption, green economy, natural resource conservation all of her future research field of interest.

Monika Nasrin Munni has completed her graduation from the Department of Pharmacy, BRAC University in 2019. She has enrolled in her master’s program in Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacy at North South University in the 2020-2021 session. She has experience in designing 3D and 4D printed medical devices and a sustainable drug delivery system. She has accepted as a presenter at an international conference in the Bioscience and Bioinformatics section, ICNST’20 Organizing Committee, Asian University for Women, Chittagong, Bangladesh. Monika has currently worked as a research assistant under Dr. Md. Jasim Uddin, Assistant professor, Department of Pharmacy, Brac University. She has involved in different projects based on, Stent technology, Microneedle based drug delivery system, Transdermal drug delivery system, anddispersible film-based drug delivery system. Samia Zaman is an aspiring Social Worker and at present pursuing “CMA”. She completed BBA and MBA from the “University of Chittagong”. Her struggle of childhood and love for mankind made her passionate about working in the Development sector. She has 4 years of work experience in the Development Sector. Her journey in this sector started as a volunteer in the “Active Citizen” program under the British council. Samia attended 4 months training of “Bangladesh Youth Leadership Center” on “Leadership”. She was the “YES” member of “Transparency International Bangladesh”. She is also involved with cultural activities and completed training on Anchoring and News Presenting. She was the team member of the “Runner-up” team of the “Inter-University Cultural Program” organized by “ProthomAlo and Confidence Cement”. Samia possesses excellent public speaking, communication, and leadership skills.
In “BYLC” training her team worked on a project aiming to make the slum dwellers of their concerned area habituated to improved health & hygiene practices and arranged free medical campaigns and distributed free medicines for them. She participated in “Satellite AI Desk” under “TIB” to make the general people aware of the corruption. She also worked as a surveyor. She completed training and became a member of “TIB Theater Group” and performed Roadshows to increase awareness of corruption. Samia developed a strong sense of devotion for the nonprofit sector as this sector helped her to outfight her struggle. She wants to contribute more to this sector to execute her long-cherished dream of working for mankind.

Tania is graduated in architecture from the State University of Bangladesh. While the study of architecture she gathered knowledge in government housing policy, infrastructure, developing system in the metro and her thesis project was designing Khulna railway station. After the Rana Plaza disaster, she starts working as a junior architect within the garments sector. Where she gathered experience on Accord and Aliens’ rules and regulation. She also works with an NGO named UNNAYAN, Khulna the project name was Enrich. Where she was trying to find the relation between architecture and mass communication. In the year 2018 she became a part of an educational development project in 64 districts in Bangladesh under the ministry of education. As she comes from a political family those interactions influenced her to work with social aspects, human resources, and activities and also their relation to architecture. In this pandemic time, she also worked with the livelihood pattern and surviving skill of rickshaw pullers in Khulna city. And do some social activities with the Amphan affected people in Koira Upazila, Khulna.Nowadays she is trying to find out the impact of covid 19 as well as health and safety measures.
Farasna Hossain is currently enrolled as a final year student of Public health and informatics at Jahangirnagar University . As a public health student, she has raised to perform highly in different fields such as research methodology, disaster management, reproductive health, Biostatistics, epidemiology, and anthropology.
Her dedication is what sets her apart from others. Recently, she completed her internship at ICDDR, b, b. Before that, she worked as a Research Assistant (RA), under the project of Shabnam Naher (Associate professor, Jahangirnagar University); a qualitative study on “The Perceptions and Experiences of Health Seeking Behavior for the Community Living in Semi-Urban areas. Farasna also experienced her work as a Transcriber Assistant (TA) at CIPRB under the project of “Impact Assessment of SCANU Treatment in Bangladesh”. She is also working as an Active Citizens youth leader on “SRHR”. Farasna has good communication skills. Shukti Bala is a finale year undergraduate student of Department of Public Administration, University of Dhaka. She has an excellent academic background. Sang Rem MawiBawm is a student of the Clothing and Textile Department. She is currently studying at Government College of Home Economics College, Azimpur-Dhaka. She has complications of BSc honors 2nd year and got a chance to study the business field of study in the United States. She is a formal CCI (Community College Initiative Program) student 2019-2020. She has completed the entrepreneurship and supervision certificate from the business field of study. After returning to her country she is now in the process of completing her other two more years study of Homer’s.
She wants to become a women entrepreneur. She is interested in women’s empowerment and women’s rights. As she is studying Clothing and Textile, she would like to create work opportunities for women in her community which will be related to clothing and textile. Her goal is to help her community women who are living in hill tracts or remote areas. Women who are living in a remote area they don’t have work opportunities as a result, they are not able to have a healthy life.

Sadia Binte Azad Sristy is a student of the 7th semester in BBA (HR) at North South University. She is involved in a lot of activities in her varsity clubs and also outside social works. She is working with the HR club in NSU and also working with the IBC club. In the HR club that arranged a calibration program, she handled the guest; she wrote the speech for the program. On the other hand, she is the presenter of the IBC club program. She was working with the Jaago Foundation. Now she is working with a few research groups. Recently she started a new research project which is the COVID-19 perspective. Her college life, she was a volunteer. For this volunteering, she got the best volunteer award. She helped to manage various types of college programs. She is writing a journal in some newspapers also. She believes that before dying there are a lot of things in the world people need to learn.
Sadiya Isrot Suha is a final year student of Computer Science and Engineering in MawlanaBhashani Science & Technology University. Block chain is used as a generic term that most people associate with Bitcoin, the cryptocurrency created using the technology used for security purposes. Block chain technology tackles the problem of digital trust by securely recording important information in a public space. Ms. Sarah Binte Chowdhury, the third-year undergraduate student of the Department of Economics, University of Chittagong. She is sincere, hardworking, energetic, diligent, and very much dedicated to her studies. She impressed teachers with her inquisitiveness and active participation in the class. Her clear understanding of basic concepts of core economics courses and skill and training in analytical and quantitative economics helped her secure the highest position among the top 2% of the students in the entire class. She has performed presentation, research studies, and data analyses and is sufficiently self-motivated to pursue independent learning, as required by an ambitious student in any academic environment. Apart from this, Ms. Sarah Hasan excellent communication skills in English and achieved two consecutive championships in Inter Department British Parliamentary Debate 2018 and 2019. Starting from her admission to the University of Chittagong, she has served the biggest and the central debating club in Chittagong Division namely, Chittagong University Debating Society (CUDS) with her different active roles and capacities.
